Basketball Game Preview: Ash Fork Spartans vs. Williams Vikings

Ash Fork hasn't had much luck against Williams recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. Having just played yesterday, the Ash Fork Spartans will head out on the road to face off against the Williams Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Ash Fork has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.

On Wednesday, Ash Fork didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Mayer, but they still walked away with a 39-35 victory.

Ash Fork's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Josue Tellez led the charge by putting up 12 points along with eight rebounds and six blocks. Those six blocks gave Tellez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Jeffrey Trovillion, who went 7 of 15 on his way to 14 points in addition to six boards and four blocks.

Meanwhile, after soaring to 72 points the game before, Williams was a bit more limited in their game on Wednesday. They were dealt a 69-28 defeat at the hands of Kingman Academy.

Ash Fork's win bumped their record up to 3-5. As for Williams, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

Ash Fork barely slipped by Williams when the teams last played back in January, winning 53-52. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Williams' Nickoli Cody, who posted 26 points along with seven rebounds and four steals.
