Baseball Recap: Clayton's Victory on Tuesday Extends Winning Streak to Four

Clayton had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 7.3 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over the Southeast Raleigh Bulldogs. The result was nothing new for the Comets, who have now won six contests by eight runs or more so far this season.

The result came thanks to Chris Crisostomo's shutout, as he gave up just three hits and racked up eight Ks.

At the plate, Jennings Dunlap and Owen Fitzsimmons did most of the damage at the plate: Dunlap scored three runs and stole a base, while Fitzsimmons scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. That's the most runs Dunlap has posted since back in February.

Clayton pushed their record up to 10-6 with the win, which was their fourth straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.5 runs on average over those games. As for Southeast Raleigh, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-12 record this season.

Clayton will take on Wake County HomeSchool at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Southeast Raleigh, they will challenge Knightdale at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday.
