Lincoln is on a three-game streak of home wins, while Frankfort is on an 11-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Cougars will welcome the Falcons at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Lincoln knows how to get runs on the board -- the squad has finished with ten runs or more in their past eight contests -- so hopefully Frankfort likes a good challenge.
On Wednesday, Lincoln got the win against Lewis County by a conclusive 12-3. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 12 matches by nine runs or more this season.
Adriana Elder spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned runs on 12 hits.
At the plate, Makiah Ford was a standout: she fired off two home runs, three runs, and three RBI while going 2-for-3. Those two home runs gave her a new career-high. Aspen Dyer was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.
Lincoln hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least four batters in eight consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Frankfort faced University in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Falcons skirted past the Hawks 2-1. Those two runs were actually the fewest the Falcons have put up all season, but given the result they're probably not too concerned.
The team relied heavily on Adison Pritts, who went 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Lincoln is on a roll lately: they've won six of their last seven contests. That's provided a massive bump to their 15-8 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 16.7 runs over those games. As for Frankfort, their win bumped their record up to 26-0.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Lincoln has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Frankfort struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Lincoln suffered a grim 9-3 defeat to Frankfort when the teams last played back in April. Can the Cougars avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
