Oakleaf extended their losing streak to four on Thursday, dropping them down to 1-4. They came up short against the Fletcher Senators, falling 22-12. Even if the Knights couldn't come away with the win, the high-scoring effort was a great turnaround for their hitters, which had struggled int the games prior.
Ava Tolbert was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-4 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Aubrie Jordan, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, two RBI, and one double.
As for Fletcher, they moved to 3-5 with that victory, which also ended their five-game losing streak. Their offense finally found a way to get into gear: the high-octane performance was a 180-degree turn from their last three games.
On Fletcher's side, Emily (MeMe) Moore tossed a big game, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off four hits. Moore has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Ava Lowman, who went 3-for-6 with six RBI, three runs, and one triple. Those six RBI gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Sydni Gonzalez, who got on base in five of her six plate appearances with four runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming matchups. Oakleaf will venture away from home to square off against Ponte Vedra at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Fletcher, they will head out to challenge Sandalwood at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
