Basketball Recap: Aiden Zajicek Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Central City

There's no place like home for Wilber-Clatonia, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Saturday. They managed a 55-50 win over the Central City Bison on Saturday. This was payback for the Wolverines, who suffered a 57-43 loss the last time these two teams met.

Wilber-Clatonia's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Aiden Zajicek led the charge by going 5 for 9 on his way to 19 points. That's the most points Zajicek has posted since back in December of 2023. The team also got some help courtesy of Cash Keslar, who went 5 of 9 en route to 14 points.

Wilber-Clatonia has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matches, which provided a nice bump to their 5-2 record this season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 52.8 points per game. As for Central City, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-4.

Wilber-Clatonia and Bruning-Davenport/Shickley will round out the year against one another at at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Central City, they will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Fillmore Central at 7:45 p.m. on January 9, 2025.
