The Bucklin Red Aces had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 32 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Tuesday. They came out on top against South Central by a score of 50-38. Given Bucklin's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked 47th, while South Central is ranked 133rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Sydnie Jones continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 19 points along with eight rebounds and two steals. Another player making a difference was Emmerson Kirk, who scored 13 points along with five rebounds.
Bucklin pushed their record up to 9-2 with that victory, which was their fifth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.2 points per game. As for South Central, their loss ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 6-6.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Bucklin will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Ingalls at 6:30 p.m. on January 30th. Hopefully Ingalls focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 20 on Tuesday. South Central will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Kinsley on January 30th. Kinsley has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
