It was a good run, but the Parkwood Wolf Pack unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They fell 66-56 to Piedmont. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Several Wolf Pack players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Peyton Collins, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. Collins is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 15 or more in the last seven games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Kayl Starnes, who scored 12 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Piedmont to victory, but perhaps none more so than Emily Polk, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds. Polk has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last 14 times she's played. Ada Allen was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with six assists and six rebounds.
Parkwood's defeat dropped their record down to 8-8. As for Piedmont, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Parkwood the luxury of staying home another game and will welcome Central Academy at 6:00 p.m. on January 23rd. Central Academy is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'. As for Piedmont, they will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against West Stanly at 6:00 p.m. West Stanly has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
