Atascocita has won seven straight games at home, while Ridge Point has won seven straight on the road, but those streaks won't matter much on Thursday. Atascocita will be taking part in a tournament against Ridge Point at 10:45 a.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Atascocita's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 9-0 margin over Goose Creek Memorial. The win continues a trend for the Eagles in their matchups with the Patriots: they've now won six in a row.
Not much got past Allison Burkhalter, who gave up just five hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Goose Creek Memorial off the board. That's the most strikeouts Burkhalter has posted since back in March of 2024.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Morgan Marks, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was Rhilynn McCoy, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.
Atascocita hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most two strikeouts in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Ridge Point got the win against Fort Bend Austin on Tuesday by a conclusive 16-1.
Sadie Dasher looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Braelyn Daniels was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3. She also hit a triple, marking her first of the season. Maddie Clark was another key player, scoring three runs while going 2-for-3.
Ridge Point has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won nine of their last ten matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-2 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.4 runs on average over those games. Atascocita's win bumped their record up to 15-2.
Everything went Atascocita's way against Ridge Point in their previous meeting back in February of 2015, as Atascocita made off with a 12-2 victory. Does Atascocita have another victory up their sleeve, or will Ridge Point turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
