Two dominant backs in Latrell Pogue and Amarie Jackson are getting ready to go toe-to-toe. The Gautier Gators will venture away from home to face off against the Pascagoula Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Gautier has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the game with three straight losses, while Pascagoula will come in with three straight victories.
On Friday, Gautier was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 35-31 to Picayune. While losing is never fun, the Gators can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Mississippi football rankings (they are ranked 114th, while the Maroon Tide are ranked 18th).

The losing side was boosted by Keon McNeil, who threw for 248 yards and three touchdowns, and also punched in one rushing score. A healthy portion of McNeil's aerial production (85 yards to be exact) went to Kasin Thomas, who also brought in a receiving touchdown.
Meanwhile, Pascagoula got themselves on the board against Hancock on Friday, but Hancock never followed suit. They blew past the Hawks 35-0. The result was nothing new for the Panthers, who have now won four matchups by 33 points or more so far this season.
Gautier better keep an eye on Sean Norvel. He was instrumental in Pascagoula's win, rushing for 89 yards and one TD.
Pascagoula was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 330 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 278 rushing yards in four consecutive contests.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Pascagoula's defense and their five sacks. That dominant display was truly a team effort as five different players picked up one apiece. Another thorn in Hancock's side was Creevy Harness, who picked up a sack and made six total tackles (4.0 for loss).
Pascagoula's win bumped their record up to 4-5. As for Gautier, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.
Gautier was able to grind out a solid victory over Pascagoula in their previous matchup back in September of 2024, winning 38-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Gators since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
