After a string of three wins, the Williston Red Devils's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a 68-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of P.K. Yonge. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Williston in their matchups with the Blue Wave: they've now lost five in a row.
Despite the loss, Williston still got an impressive performance from Kierce Solomon, who scored 23 points along with seven rebounds and two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Solomon has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Kaelynn Brown, who scored 17 points along with five rebounds.
Ashlyn Young continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for P.K. Yonge, shooting 4-for-6 from downtown and dropping a double-double on 33 points and ten rebounds. Young is crushing the steal category: she's posted at least three every time she's taken the court this season. Summer Barnett was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Williston's defeat dropped their record down to 10-10. As for P.K. Yonge, their victory bumped their record up to 12-7.
Williston will face off against the Sharks at 7:00 p.m. on Monday. Cedar Key will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 598th, while the Red Devils are ranked 248th). As for P.K. Yonge, they will square off against the Tornadoes at TBD on Wednesday. Hopefully Bradford focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 28 last Thursday.
