Whiteoak has enjoyed a three-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will face off against the Fairfield Lions at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Whiteoak will be strutting in after a victory while Fairfield will be coming in after a defeat.
Even though Whiteoak has not done well against East Clinton recently (they were 0-6 in their previous six matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. Whiteoak snuck past East Clinton with a 37-32 victory. Given Whiteoak's advantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 332nd, while East Clinton is ranked 712th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Fairfield's 19-6 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They took a hard 64-47 fall against Hillsboro on Monday.
Whiteoak pushed their record up to 11-5 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 51.7 points per game. As for Fairfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost four of their last five contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.
Whiteoak was able to grind out a solid win over Fairfield when the teams last played back in December of 2023, winning 42-31. The rematch might be a little tougher for Whiteoak since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
