Baseball Recap: Wakulla Victorious

Wakulla won the last time they faced Florida State University High School and things went their way on Thursday too. The War Eagles came out on top against the Seminoles by a score of 4-1.

William Wright spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered a run (which was unearned) on two hits and racked up seven Ks. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Wakulla is 7-2 when he allows at most one earned run, but 4-6 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Wakulla's win was truly a team effort as six different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Tucker High, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. Garrett Veltkamp also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Wakulla hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Florida State University High School struck out seven times.

Wakulla's victory bumped their record up to 11-8. As for Florida State University High School, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 12 games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-17 record this season.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Wakulla will face off against Bozeman at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The Bucks' pitching crew has only allowed 2.3 runs per game this season, so the War Eagles' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Florida State University High School, they will take on Taylor County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday.
