Baseball Recap: Myrtle Has No Trouble Against Jumpertown

While Myrtle didn't have the best season last year (they finished 10-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They never let the Jumpertown Cardinals get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Tuesday. The match marked the Hawks' most dominant win of the season so far.

Hunter Davis made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing a base.

In other batting news, Drew Stanton and Ray Moody did most of the damage at the plate: Stanton got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and three RBI, while Moody went a perfect 2-for-2 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Stanton has posted since back in April of 2024. Jack Raines also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Myrtle was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .444. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .308 or higher in four consecutive games.

Myrtle's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 7-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 11 runs. As for Jumpertown, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Myrtle wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next contest, a 16-0 win against Jumpertown on the 7th. As for Jumpertown, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 15-1 defeat against Middleton on the 6th.
