After losing to the Sumiton Christian Eagles the last time they met, the Winston County Yellowjackets decided to demonstrate that turnabout is fair play. Winston County snuck past the Eagles with a 48-44 win on Thursday. The win made it back-to-back wins for Winston County.
Winston County found their leader in underclassman Lynleigh Cobb, who dropped a double-double on 16 points and 19 rebounds. Cobb is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as she's now pulled down ten or more in the last six games she's played. Another player making a difference was Madison Comeens, who scored eight points along with six rebounds and three steals.
Winston County's win bumped their record up to 12-16. As for Sumiton Christian, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 8-10.
Winston County does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Sumiton Christian will be playing in front of their home fans against the Saints at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are closely ranked in Alabama (St. Bernard Prep is ranked 318th, while the Eagles are ranked 311th).
