The Sabinal Yellowjackets's road trip will continue as they head out to face the D'Hanis Cowboys at 1:30 p.m. on December 27th. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Last Tuesday, it was a hard-fought match, but Sabinal had to settle for a 63-61 loss against Ingram Moore. Despite running the score up even higher than they did last Friday (57), Sabinal still had to take the loss.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Joseph Contreras, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 15 rebounds. He scored a full 34.4% of Sabinal's points, the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Ricardo Perez was another key contributor, scoring 22 points.
Meanwhile, D'Hanis waltzed into their matchup Monday with five straight wins but they left with six. They really took it to Center Point for the full four quarters, racking up a 70-22 victory at home. The match was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 38-15.
Sabinal has not been sharp recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 6-8 record this season. As for D'Hanis, their win was their sixth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-6.
Sabinal strolled past D'Hanis when the teams last played on December 7th by a score of 63-46. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was D'Hanis' Gabe Perez, who scored 15 points along with nine rebounds.
