If Cairo-Durham was feeling good  off their  18-11 takedown of Tamarac on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit.  In other batting news,  Zak Wagor and  Jake Young stepped up to the plate in a big way.  Wagor  scored two  runs and  stole two bases while  getting on base  in three of his four plate appearances, while  Young  went 2-for-4 with three  RBI, a  stolen base,  and a  double.
 Even though they lost, Cairo-Durham  didn't let batters stay on the plate for long and  finished the game with 11  strikeouts. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Rensselaer only tossed six.
 On Rensselaer's side,  Noah Vogel spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three earned  (and two unearned) runs on five hits and racked up six Ks.
 At the plate,  the team  relied heavily on  Jack Melchior, who  scored three  runs and  stole three bases while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was  Izaiah Johnson, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-3.
 Cairo-Durham's defeat  ended  a  three-game streak of away wins  and  brought them to 6-6. As for Rensselaer, their win  ended  a  four-game drought at home  and  bumped them up to 3-13.
 Cairo-Durham does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rensselaer, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Doane Stuart at 4:30  p.m.  on Thursday.
