Caroline is 2-8 against Courtland since January of 2020 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Caroline Cavaliers will be staying on the road to face off against the Courtland Cougars at 6:30 p.m. on January 19th. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
On Thursday, Caroline didn't have too much trouble with Chancellor on the road as they won 69-52.
Courtland posted their biggest victory yet this season on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Spotsylvania 51-16 on the road. Given Courtland's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 181st, while Spotsylvania is ranked 412th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Caroline is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 7-6 record this season. As for Courtland, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-5.
Caroline ended up a good deal behind Courtland in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, losing 54-36. Can Caroline avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
