After flying high against the Encinal Jets last Friday, The Irvington Vikings came back down to earth. Irvington was beaten by Hayward 40-10 on Saturday. Irvington lost against Hayward in their previous head to head back in October of 2022, too, but the margin this time around was much wider than the 31-10 score last time.
Elyas Aria threw for 29 yards on four of six attempts. On the ground, Matthew Forbes rushed for 106 yards.
Irvington's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Hayward, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-3 record this season.
Irvington will head out on the road to face off against Berkeley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Berkeley knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past five matchups -- so hopefully Irvington likes a good challenge. As for Hayward, they will be playing at home against Washington at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Washington is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
