Red Level has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will challenge the Shields Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday. Red Level has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 406 points over their last six contests.
Red Level pushed their score all the way to 62 on Thursday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell to Georgiana 68-62. Red Level has struggled against Georgiana recently, as their matchup on Thursday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Meanwhile, Shields' recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight loss. They were outmatched by Hillcrest on the road and fell 81-45. While losing is never fun, Shields can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 267th, while Hillcrest is ranked 60th).
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Jalance Kimbrough, who scored 13 points along with two steals. Another player making a difference was Zhylan Quarles, who scored 14 points along with two steals.
Red Level's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-6. As for Shields, they bumped their record down to 7-10 with that loss, which was their third straight on the road.
Red Level was able to grind out a solid victory over Shields when the teams last played on Friday, winning 71-63. The rematch might be a little tougher for Red Level since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
