The Big Sandy Wildcats suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Harleton by a score of 65-62. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game last Tuesday (60), Big Sandy still had to take the loss.
Big Sandy's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Malijah Francis, who scored 17 points along with eight assists and seven rebounds. Francis has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last four times he's played. Trey Coleman was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with three blocks and two steals.
Big Sandy bumped their record down to 8-12 with that defeat, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Harleton, their win ended a five-game drought at home and bumped them up to 6-14.
Big Sandy will head out on the road to face off against Linden-Kildare at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Linden-Kildare comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 18 points in their last seven games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse. As for Harleton, they will be playing at home against Union Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday.
