The Northwestern Trojans will head out on the road to challenge the Westwood Redhawks at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Northwestern will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps South Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 78th, while Westwood is ranked third).
Last Friday, Northwestern came up short against Catawba Ridge and fell 56-46. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Northwestern in their matchups with Catawba Ridge: they've now lost four in a row.
Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Jackson Wilson, who scored nine points. Another player making a difference was Jaylan Moore, who scored 12 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Westwood sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 52-49 victory over Richland Northeast on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Westwood.
Northwestern has been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 11-15 record this season. As for Westwood, they pushed their record up to 20-2 with that victory, which was their eighth straight on the road.
Northwestern strolled past Westwood in their previous meeting back in December of 2021 by a score of 58-41. Does Northwestern have another victory up their sleeve, or will Westwood turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
