The Steele Knights will be playing in front of their home fans against the Brandeis Broncos at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Steele will be looking to keep their 11-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Thursday, Steele strolled past Clemens with points to spare, taking the game 31-14. Given Steele's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 29th, while Clemens is ranked 356th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Steele's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Jalen Cooper, who picked up 187 receiving yards and two touchdowns, and Jonathan Hatton jr., who rushed for 145 yards and two touchdowns. Hatton jr. was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 64 yards.
Steele's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. Abdon Mata was especially locked on to Clemens' QB and sacked him twice.
Meanwhile, Brandeis took a serious blow against Reagan on Friday, falling 39-7. Brandeis has not had much luck with Reagan recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Steele's victory lifted them to 9-1 while Brandeis' defeat dropped them down to 5-5.
Everything came up roses for Steele against Brandeis in their previous matchup back in November of 2021 as the team secured a 42-14 victory. Will Steele repeat their success, or does Brandeis have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
