The Vega Longhorns will head out on the road to face off against the Farwell Steers at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Vega will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 624th, while the Steers are ranked 54th).
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Vega beat the Mustangs 40-34. The victory was just what Vega needed coming off of a 62-25 loss in their prior contest.
Meanwhile, Farwell waltzed into their contest on Friday with 13 straight wins but they left with 14. They breezed by Boys Ranch on the road to the tune of 80-21. Farwell has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 19 contests by 20 points or more this season.
It was another big night for Makylee Baldwin, who scored 24 points along with four steals. She is on a roll when it comes to points, as she's now scored 19 or more in the last five games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Natalie Wade, who scored 15 points along with six rebounds.
Vega pushed their record up to 14-18 with that win, which was their third straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 57.3 points per game. As for Farwell, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 20 of their last 21 games, which provided a nice bump to their 28-3 record this season.
Vega was taken down by the Steers 81-35 in their previous meeting back in January. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Vega was down 44-12.
