Basketball Recap: Woodland Victorious

If Academic Magnet wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Woodland, they should've done a better job of containing Carmen Allen. The Woodland Wolverines snuck past the Academic Magnet Raptors with a 44-40 victory on Monday thanks in part to Allen, who almost dropped a double-double on 14 points and nine steals. The dominant performance gave her a new career-high in points.

Several Raptors players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Sophia Benich, who posted 17 points and five steals. That was a full 42.5% of Academic Magnet's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's put up more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Josie Barrineau, who scored nine points and five rebounds.

Woodland's record is now 4-11. As for Academic Magnet, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-9 record this season.

Woodland wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 49-18 defeat against Philip Simmons on the 28th. As for Academic Magnet, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 48-45 win against Andrews on the 28th.
