Basketball Recap: Metea Valley Skates Past Normal West with Ease

Metea Valley had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.3 points) and they went ahead and made it four on Thursday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Normal West Wildcats 61-27. The Mustangs have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five contests by 31 points or more this season.

When it comes to explaining why Normal West lost, don't look at Maliq Givens-Smith. Despite the final result, he posted 11 points and seven rebounds.

Metea Valley is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. As for Normal West, they are on a seven-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-9.

Metea Valley will have some time to savor their victory since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Naperville Central at 7:00 p.m. on January 7, 2025. Metea Valley knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past four matchups -- so hopefully Naperville Central likes a good challenge. As for Normal West, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 53-31 loss against Harlem on the 27th.
