Everything went St. Margaret's way against Norfolk Collegiate as St. Margaret's made off with a 54-30 win. Given St. Margaret's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Norfolk Collegiate is ranked 248th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
St. Margaret's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Ilona Syzdek led the charge by scoring 17 points. Those 17 points set a new season-high mark for her. The team also got some help courtesy of Paula Carrillo, who scored 14 points.
St. Margaret's has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 5-4 record this season. As for Norfolk Collegiate, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
