The Cedar Grove Saints's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their fifth straight defeat. They were outmatched by Creekside Christian Academy at home and fell 57-23. While losing is never fun, Cedar Grove can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 405th, while the Cougars are ranked 118th).
Creekside Christian Academy was led to victory by Jai Holt and Kyra Ware. Holt scored 16 points along with three steals, while Ware scored 11 points along with five rebounds and five steals. Ware has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last seven times she's played. Another player making a difference was Laila Placide, who scored nine points along with seven rebounds and two blocks.
Cedar Grove has been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last eight matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-10 record this season. As for Creekside Christian Academy, the win (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 17-5.
Cedar Grove will head out on the road to take on the Panthers at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The timing is sure in Carver's favor as the team sits on three straight wins at home while the Saints have been banged up by 12 consecutive losses on the road dating back to last season. Creekside Christian Academy will take on the at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
