Valley Park came tearing into Monday's contest with four straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Herculaneum Black Cats with a sharp 9-3 win. The result was nothing new for the Hawks, who have now won seven games by six runs or more so far this season.

Valley Park's victory bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Herculaneum, their defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 15-9.

Looking ahead, Valley Park will venture away from home to challenge Lutheran at 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Herculaneum will be paying especially close attention to the Hawks' matchup: after the Hawks face off against Bishop DuBourg, they'll take on Herculaneum again at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
