The Pine Ridge Panthers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a 28-18 hit to the loss column at the hands of Deltona. Despite 55 more yards than Deltona, Pine Ridge couldn't convert that extra yardage to scores.
Chris Boddie and Alex Johnson certainly did their best on Friday to try and avoid the loss. Boddie gained 103 total yards and two touchdowns, while Johnson punched in a rushing scores.
The team won by holding Pine Ridge to a paltry 234 yards. A big part of that defensive dominance came down to Deltona's ability to keep the quarterback under pressure: the team laid him out four times before it was all said and done. Pine Ridge's QB won't forget Robert Williams anytime soon given Williams sacked him four times.
Pine Ridge's loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their overall record down to 3-5. As for Deltona, their win ended a four-game drought on the road and puts them at 1-8.
Pine Ridge will square off against Atlantic at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Deltona, they will be playing at home against University at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. University presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Deltona in Florida (University is ranked 45th, while Deltona is ranked 372nd).
