Kimball had already won two in a row and they went ahead and made it three on Monday. They came within a single set of losing the streak, but they secured a 3-2 W against the Banner County Wildcats. The Longhorns have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wildcats, too.
Kimball took Banner County into a fifth set where they got it done with a eight-point win. The match finished with set scores of 26-24, 26-16, 22-25, 21-25, 15-7.
Clarika Hottell paced Kimball's offense, picking up 15 kills. Hottell got some help from Grace Moore and her 17 assists. Hannah Kilgore controlled things from the service line, finishing with six aces.
Despite the loss, Banner County saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Karlye Dittbenner had 15 digs and one assist. Those 15 digs set a new season-high mark for Dittbenner. Shawnie Mason also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assists of the season.
Kimball's victory bumped their record up to 5-3. As for Banner County, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-8.
Coming up, Kimball will welcome Prairie at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Banner County, they will head out to square off against Minatare on Thursday. The Wildcats are facing the Indians at the right time seeing as the Indians are stuck on a three-game losing streak.
