Basketball Recap: Jack Fessel's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Corydon Central over Salem

After flying high against Crawford County last Saturday, Corydon Central came back down to earth. The Corydon Central Panthers fell to the Salem Lions 54-50. The loss was a bit of a surprise, as the Panthers came into the matchup with a sizable advantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 90th, while the Lions are ranked 305th).

Several Panthers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jack Fessel, who went 7 of 14 on his way to 17 points and five assists. Fessel's evening made it four games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Grant Lindemann, who went 5 for 9 en route to 15 points and five assists.

Corydon Central's defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 3-1 and their overall record down to 10-3. As for Salem, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 5-7.

Corydon Central didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 60-52 victory against Charlestown on the 25th. As for Salem, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next game, a 59-47 loss against North Harrison on the 25th.
