Baseball Recap: Aquinas Extends Winning Streak to Five

Aquinas won against Burke County last Thursday with 19 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again on Friday. Aquinas was the clear victor by a 19-3 margin over the Cross Creek Razorbacks. The Fightin' Irish might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won ten games by ten runs or more this season.

Cruz Washington made a splash while hitting and pitching. He struck out eight batters over four innings while giving up three earned runs off three hits. Those eight strikeouts gave him a new career-high. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing seven bases while going 2-for-3. With that strong performance, he is now averaging an impressive 1.1 stolen bases per game.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Patrick Sherry, who went 2-for-3 with two triples, three runs, and four RBI. That's the most runs he has posted since back in February. Another player making a difference was CJ Johnson, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple.

Aquinas was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .550. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cross Creek only posted a batting average of .214.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Aquinas, bringing their record up to 12-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Cross Creek, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-9.
