The Rockledge Raiders's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fourth straight loss. The match between Rockledge and Vero Beach wasn't particularly close, with Rockledge falling 48-33. Rockledge has not had much luck with Vero Beach recently, as the team's come up short the last two times they've met.
Despite the loss, Rockledge still got an impressive performance from Jaida Williams-Goins, who scored 21 points along with five steals. That was a full 63.6% of Rockledge's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Rockledge struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only three offensive rebounds. That's the fewest offensive rebounds they've managed all season.
Vero Beach found their leader in underclassman Ekklesia Anderson, who scored 11 points along with five assists and three steals. Another player making a difference was Camryn Reid, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Rockledge bumped their record down to 3-10 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road. As for Vero Beach, the win was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Rockledge will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Eau Gallie at 6:00 p.m. on January 24th. As for Vero Beach, Vero Beach and Merritt Island Christian will face off at 6:00 p.m. on January 16th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday.
