Lakeshore will be playing in front of their home fans against the DeRidder Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Lakeshore entered their tilt with Franklinton with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Lakeshore came out on top in a nail-biter against Franklinton on Friday and snuck past 31-28.
Lakeshore found their leader in underclassman Oudrey Gros, who rushed for 175 yards and two touchdowns. Gros has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played.
Meanwhile, DeRidder can now show off five landslide victories after their most recent contest on Friday. They blew past Washington-Marion 49-14 on the road. 49 seems to be a good number for DeRidder as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
DeRidder's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Connor Rushford, who rushed for 127 yards and two touchdowns on only nine carries. Reed Williams was another key contributor, rushing for 133 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.
DeRidder's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB five times. Heydin Stephens was especially locked on to Washington-Marion's QB and sacked him twice.
Lakeshore has yet to lose a matchup at home this season, leaving them with a 5-4 record. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 1-9 Washington-Marion and 3-7 Franklinton (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 34.1% over those games). As for DeRidder, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 6-4.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Lakeshore has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 232.2 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like DeRidder struggles in that department as they've been even better at 283.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
