Blount is 8-2 against Rain since January of 2020, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Blount Leopards will head out on the road to face off against the Rain Red Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Hopefully Blount is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Rain in Alabama (Blount is ranked 115th, while Rain is ranked 243rd).
Blount pushed their score all the way to 67 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They fell just short of Williamson by a score of 69-67. Blount has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Despite their defeat, Blount saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Jaiden Beck, who scored 26 points along with seven assists and four steals, was perhaps the best of all. The game was Beck's seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Andrew Williams, who scored 16 points along with five assists and five steals.
Meanwhile, Rain had to suffer through a rough 69-41 loss at the hands of Mary G. Montgomery. Rain has not had much luck with Mary G. Montgomery recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Blount's defeat ended a three-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 6-6. As for Rain, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Blount strolled past Rain when the teams last played back in November by a score of 61-45. The rematch might be a little tougher for Blount since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
