The West Valley Eagles will square off against the Mt. Shasta Bears at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday. West Valley will be looking to extend their current eight-game winning streak.
West Valley is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They never let Central Valley get on the board and left with a 17-0 win on Friday. Considering the Eagles have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Trent Nehls looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits while striking out nine over four innings pitched. That's the most strikeouts he has posted since back in April of 2024.

| 03/27/25 vs Corning | 1 |

On the hitting side, West Valley got a massive performance out of Degan Palos, who scored four runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-4. Those two stolen bases gave Palos a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mason Mcfadden, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
West Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 14 hits. That's a new trend for them: they were averaging 5.6 hits per game earlier this season, but in their last 15 contests they've averaged 11.4.
Meanwhile, Mt. Shasta beat Fall River 6-1 on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Bears.
SETH SMITH was a major factor no matter where he played. On the mound, he pitched 3.1 innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Mt. Shasta is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 5-6 otherwise. SMITH was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-4. He also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Hayden Porteous, who went 1-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Another player making a difference was Nick Mangrum, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-2.
West Valley's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 10-3. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.3 runs over those games. As for Mt. Shasta, the victory got them back to even at 7-7.
West Valley was able to grind out a solid win over Mt. Shasta when the teams last played back in March of 2020, winning 7-3. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Eagles since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
