Barron Collier and Naples are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2022, but likely not for long. The Cougars will challenge the Golden Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. The two teams are strolling into their matchups after big wins in their previous games.
Barron Collier is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They were the clear victors by a 17-9 margin over Bonita Springs. The Cougars' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
Jordyn Kinn was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with six RBI, two stolen bases, and three runs. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in April of 2024. Gianna Frino was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.
Meanwhile, Naples waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They put the hurt on the Trojans with a sharp 13-3 win.
Joslyn Baker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she tossed 1.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Baker was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three runs, one triple, and one stolen base.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Mackenzie Leiti, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and two RBI. She has been hot recently, having posted at least one home run the last four times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Imani Bartuccio, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.
Naples always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .581. That was just more of the same: they've now posted an OBP of .581 or higher in three consecutive games.
Naples' victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-15. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 14.0 runs over those games. As for Barron Collier, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-9 record this season.
Barron Collier took their victory against Naples in their previous matchup back in March by a conclusive 13-1 score. Do the Cougars have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Golden Eagles turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
