Osbourn managed to slip by Gainesville the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. Osbourn lost 16-4 to Gainesville on Friday. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Osbourn saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was MacKenzie Fitterer, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with three RBI and one double. Cailynn White also deserves some recognition as she got her first hit of the season.
Even though they lost, Osbourn hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most three strikeouts every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Battlefield was able to grind out a solid victory over Osbourn Park on Friday, taking the game 5-2.
Olivia Morse spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on three hits.
At the plate, Jaylen Wright was excellent, scoring a run while going 1-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Chloe Baird, who scored a run while going 1-for-3.
The win got Battlefield back to even at 2-2. As for Osbourn, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-2.
Battlefield's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Osbourn hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .420. It's a different story for Battlefield, though, as they've only averaged .255. Will they be able to contain Osbourn's hitters?
Osbourn might still be hurting after the 10-0 loss they got from Battlefield in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can Osbourn avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
