The Highland Scots will head out on the road to face off against the Bakersfield Drillers at 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Highland has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They were beaten by Centennial 74-28 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Highland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 514th, while Centennial is ranked 126th).
Meanwhile, Bakersfield's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their third straight loss. They fell 75-66 to Independence. Bakersfield has not had much luck with Independence recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Highland's loss ended an eight-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 14-3. As for Bakersfield, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.
Everything went Highland's way against Bakersfield when the teams last played back in February of 2023 as Highland made off with a 66-43 victory. Will Highland repeat their success, or does Bakersfield have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
