Baseball Recap: Newton Puts Losing Streak Behind Them

Newton barely beat Hopatcong the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Braves' pitchers stepped up to hand the Chiefs an 11-0 shutout on Wednesday. The result was nothing new for the Braves, who have now won six matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

With the victory, Newton broke their three-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-11. As for Hopatcong, their loss was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 4-10.

Coming up, Hopatcong will face off against Warren County Tech at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 16.38 runs per game on average), something the Chiefs will no doubt try to take advantage of. Newton will be paying especially close attention to Hopatcong's contest: after Hopatcong faces off against Warren County Tech, they'll take on Newton again at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
