The Morse Shipbuilders lost against the Spruce Mountain Phoenix back in December of 2014, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Saturday. Morse took a 51-43 hit to the loss column at the hands of Spruce Mountain. Morse has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
When it comes to explaining why Morse lost, one person who can't be blamed is Trace McFarland. Despite the final result, he scored 14 points. Those 14 points set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Calin Gould, who scored 11 points along with five rebounds.
Morse's loss dropped their record down to 1-5. As for Spruce Mountain, the victory makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-1.
Morse will be playing in front of their home fans against Leavitt at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Maine (Leavitt is ranked 94th, while Morse is ranked 95th). As for Spruce Mountain, they will head out on the road to face off against Mount Abram at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Abram is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt want to keep things rolling.
