The Cherokee Braves waltzed into their match on Friday with two straight wins but they left with three. They blew past Hayesville 85-63. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Cherokee to victory, but perhaps none more so than Luke Smith, who scored 22 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Smith has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Elijah Lineberry, who scored 20 points.
Cherokee has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven contests, which provided a massive bump to their 11-7 record this season. As for Hayesville, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 11-10.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Cherokee's homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Maroon Devils at 8:00 p.m. on February 6th. Swain County is looking to tack on another W to their four-game streak on the road. As for Hayesville, they will be playing at home against the Black Knights at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Robbinsville is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last three games.
