Discovery has been on the road for three straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Mulberry Panthers at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Discovery will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Florida Rankings (they are ranked 616th, while Mulberry is ranked 276th).
Discovery suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Monday. They were beaten by Sebring 54-14. That's two games in a row now that Discovery has lost by exactly 40 points.
Meanwhile, Mulberry entered their tilt with Lakeland Christian with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Mulberry came out on top against Lakeland Christian by a score of 70-57 on Tuesday. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Discovery dropped their record down to 3-11 with that loss, which was their seventh straight on the road. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 23.6 points per game. As for Mulberry, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 9-2 record this season.
Discovery took a serious blow against Mulberry when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 59-26. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Mulberry's Lorianys Castanon Cruz, who scored 40 points. Now that Discovery knows the damage she can cause, will they be able to stop her this time? There's only one way to find out.
