Baseball Recap: Safford Has No Trouble Against Coolidge

The Safford Bulldogs made easy work of the Coolidge Bears on Monday and carried off a 7-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Bulldogs, who have now won five matchups by six runs or more so far this season.

Safford let Andrew Trujillo and Cole Goodman run wild. Trujillo scored three runs while going 1-for-2, while Goodman went 1-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one run. Trujillo has become a key player for Safford: the team is 4-1 when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Carlos Arbizo, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Safford now has a winning record of 7-6. As for Coolidge, they have been struggling recently as they've lost eight of their last nine games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 4-9 record this season.

Safford will face off against Globe at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Coolidge, they will square off against Apache Junction at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Prospectors will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something the Bears surely won't give up without a fight.
