The Cocoa Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Bishop Moore Hornets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Hopefully Cocoa focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 26 on Thursday.
Cocoa pushed their score all the way to 59, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 66-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Eustis. Cocoa found out winning isn't easy when you don't work as a unit and rack up 11 fewer assists than your opponent.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Dontay Williams, who scored 20 points along with 8 rebounds and 4 steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Damien Bryant , who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 20 points and 1 assists.
Meanwhile, Bishop Moore lost a heartbreaker to Lake Highland Prep when they met back in January, and they left with a heavy heart again on Friday. Bishop Moore fell 55-47 to Lake Highland Prep. Bishop Moore has struggled against Lake Highland Prep recently, as their matchup on Friday was their third consecutive lost matchup.
Despite the loss, Bishop Moore had strong showings from Cameron Codio, who scored 14 points along with 6 rebounds, and Mark Dadlani, who scored 11 points. The contest was Codio's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Duayne Dupas was another key contributor, scoring 4 points.
Their wins bumped Cocoa to 1-1 and Eustis to 5-0.
Cocoa ended up a good deal behind Bishop Moore in their previous matchup back in December of 2018, losing 62-47. Can Cocoa avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
