Baseball Recap: Preston Wins Going Away Against Century

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Preston and Century meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Indians were the clear victors by a 15-0 margin over the Diamondbacks. The match marked the Indians' most dominant victory of the season.

Not much got past Caide Oxborrow, who gave up just a hit and racked up ten Ks to keep Century off the board. Oxborrow is becoming a predictor of Preston's success: when he allows at most one hit the team is 2-1 (and 4-9 when he doesn't).

At the plate, Janson Hollingsworth was a standout: he went 1-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one double. Those three RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Conner Thomson, who went 3-for-4 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Preston kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are 6-1 when they post 11 or more hits.

The win snapped Preston's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-10 record. As for Century, their defeat was their seventh straight at home, which dropped their record down to 7-16.

Preston will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Diamondbacks: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
