3A Sunset recap Sept. 26, 2012
Coquille's Tristan Dixon recorded the longest rushing play in 3A Sunset this season in his game against Monroe last week. Dixon ran for 74 yards on the play and finished with 193 on the day as his team beat the Dragons.
Glide extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Illinois Valley, 36-24. This was the team's fourth consecutive win.
Coquille's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Sye Yates threw for 32 and one touchdown and Makel (Moe) Faith had 18 yards receiving. Larry Bowen helped Coquille's passing attack out by catching one ball for 14 yards.
Coquille's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Red Devils feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Yates has thrown for 96 yards and two touchdowns this season, while Bowen has four catches for 49 yards. Dixon leads the league in rushing with 263 yards.
David Thomason's team made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 10,562 from 11,875. They were able to move up in the ranks after a 40-6 victory over Monroe last week.
