Valley View has gone 8-2 against Delaware Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Cougars will venture away from home to face off against the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. Valley View is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last five games.
Valley View lost a heartbreaker the last time they played Pittston, but it's fair to say they got their revenge given the result of Saturday's game. The Cougars put the hurt on the Patriots with a sharp 16-0 victory on Saturday. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 15 contests by six runs or more this season.
Taylor Cawley made a splash no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out ten over six innings pitched. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 16 consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with two RBI and one double.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kalli Karwowski, who went a perfect 5-for-5 with one home run, six RBI, and four runs. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2024. Emily Moyles was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
Valley View kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 16 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in 13 consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Delaware Valley's offense. They came up short against Abington Heights on Wednesday, falling 9-0. Having soared to a lofty 11 runs in the game before, the Warriors' shutout was a dramatic turnaround.
Valley View's record now sits at 16-2-1. As for Delaware Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 11-7.
Delaware Valley's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Valley View has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .522. It's a different story for Delaware Valley, though, as they've only averaged .359. Will they be able to contain Valley View's hitters?
Everything went Valley View's way against Delaware Valley when the teams last played back in April, as Valley View made off with a 16-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cougars since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
