It was a good run, but the Spencer Greenwave unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Southwest by a score of 51-49. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Spencer has scored all season.
When it comes to explaining why Spencer lost, one person who can't be blamed is Joe Dozier. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 13 points and ten rebounds. Dozier has been hot recently, having posted ten or more rebounds the last three times he's played. KeyShaun Sampton was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with five rebounds and two steals.
Spencer's defeat ended a three-game streak of away wins and brought them to 17-3. As for Southwest, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.
Spencer will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Raiders at 7:30 p.m. Northeast will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 482nd, while the Greenwave are ranked 165th). As for Southwest, they will head out on the road to take on the Greenwave at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Spencer will be looking to keep their 19-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
