 On Mountain Vista's side,  Grant Shepardson tossed a big game,   striking out nine batters over  five innings while giving up  five earned runs off   four  hits. Shepardson has been consistent recently: he hasn't  tossed less than five  strikeouts every time he's  pitched this season.
 On the hitting side,  Spike Magill was  excellent,  going 2-for-4 with two  runs and a  triple. The team also got some help courtesy of  Cruz Martinez, who  scored a  run and  stole a base while going 2-for-4.
 Pine Creek's loss  ended  a  four-game streak of wins at home  and  dropped them to 17-7. As for Mountain Vista, they have  been performing  well recently as they've  won four of their last five matches,  which provided a nice bump to their 11-12-1 record  this season.
 Pine Creek does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Mountain Vista, they will head out on the road to  square off against  Cherry Creek at 2:40  p.m.  on Saturday. The last seven games Mountain Vista has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
